On a more positive note, I GOT INTO BOSTON! I am so psyched. Finally, this afternoon the Boston Athletic Association posted on their web site that they accepted everyone who registered with a Boston qualifying cutoff time of 1:38. I checked the Entrants List and finally saw my name! About an hour later I received the official acceptance email. I am thrilled and humbled to be running among the fastest in the world in one of the oldest and the most prestigious marathon in the country.
A few weeks ago I posted about hashtags and what exactly the purpose of their existence was. Someone tried to explain them to me. I told him that I understand what they are, but don't really know why they exist. I think the guy thought I was stupid. I think he's stupid for not understanding my point. At least Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake get me...and not hashtags.
Congrats about getting into Boston! I was just waiting for the news. I KNEW you'd get in. I'll be there this year with part of my family to cheer my sister on. Rooms are reserved, plans are being made. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your confidence! Making the plans is half the fun! So exciting!
DeleteIncredible job!
DeleteSO excited for you!
Thanks, Robert!
DeleteJeez, I hope you weren't talking about my hashtag response.
ReplyDeleteNooo! The man who was explaining them to me was convinced hashtags were the new, cool wave of communication. I pointed out that perhaps they were a waste of time. He thought I was stupid. (Hmmm...Did you think I was stupid, too?) I appreciate your input always. I also appreciate that you understand where I'm coming from, even if it's from outer space half the time. You get it, though. Or at least you are kind enough to mask your disdain, which hopefully is at a minimum :)
DeleteI only have admiration for you. This guy was clearly a fool and I'm glad you called him out as one. In the business side of my life, I am forced to deal with hashtags as part of social media communication. It's really just unstructured metadata. And it will go away.
DeleteBTW, congratulations on your verified entry to Boston. That is great!
