I did two 8 milers Wednesday and Thursday mornings and an almost 12 miler this morning. Yes, the weather has been glorious for running. Autumn is the best running season. I have a 5 miler tomorrow and then 18 on Sunday. There's this loser attempted rapist on the loose in the neighboring towns. He's making me reconsider my Massapequa Preserve jaunts. I hope they arrest his pathetic ass soon. I hate needless, stupid, uncalled for interference.
Boston Marathon registration opens for the speedsters on Monday. I won't be eligible until the following Monday. They added 9,000 more spots. Hopefully, I won't get shut out.
Going to bed. Good night.
Is it like trying to buy concert tickets where you're battling everyone for a spot when registration opens? Or is it more of a lottery where you just submit your info and wait to hear if you've been selected?
ReplyDeleteThe fastest people register first. Monday people who ran a marathon in the past year 20 minutes faster (BQ -20) than the required qualifying time get to register. Then a couple of days later, people who ran 10 minutes faster, etc. I am BQ -3:28
DeleteIt upsets me that you actually need to consider whether you'll run in the Massapequa Preserve due to the possibility of confronting an attacker. I wish these disgusting people would get maced or otherwise painfully incapacitated by people that they think are "easy targets." But is that sending a message or just increasing the violence?
ReplyDeleteI really hope that you are able to qualify for Boston. I'm thinking of going to the race next year to support some friends who are running it. Good luck with your weekend running.
Yes, I hope I would have the nerve and wherewithal to kick this disgusting idiot upside the head. Knowing me, I would freeze.
DeleteNot to toot my own horn, BUT...I have already qualified for Boston. There is now more interest in running Boston 2014 than ever because of last year's bombing. Registration is fastest first until it closes out. I'm hoping it doesn't close out before it's my turn. I hope we both get to go next year!
Congratulations on qualifying! I grew up watching the Boston Marathon every year from the top of a hill in my backyard (I lived on the border of Natick and Wellesley). When I ran during college I was too intimidated to run it. By the time I started running again five years ago, I discovered that they expect you to be really good :(
DeleteI'll be rooting for you in April.
