The Stick

My quadriceps were still sore for yesterday's 5 miler.  Lucky for me, The Stick arrived in the mail from Amazon.  I paid $27.45 with free shipping.  Cheaper than Dick's Sporting Goods.  I couldn't wait to try it out.  How do I describe the product in one word?  How about FANfreakingTASTIC?!  Oh my God!  The relief was immediate.  The best massage of my life.  My only regret is that I didn't get this years ago.

I also purchased a pair of Reebok compression sleeves with The Stick.  They will probably arrive in the next couple of days.  I thought I might wear them in the marathon on Sunday, but trying something new on race day is a big no-no. I'll wear them during the car ride home while simultaneously rolling out the lactic acid with my Stick.  Love my gadgets and accessories!

  1. I ended up making my own 'stick', and I have to say, it does feel divine, no?
I wish you glorious marathon goodness - swift-footedness, cool, dry weather and clean porta-potties! :p

    1. A couple of my friends think The Stick is torture. I'm with you. I think it's the next best thing to chocolate cake as far as making me feel good post-run. Thank you for your good wishes, especially the last one. Clean porta-potties are like four leaf clovers and unicorns. One can only dream that they truly exist...

  2. I've been encouraged by others to get the stick, but so far I haven't made the investment. You both make a compelling case for getting it.

I wish you clean porto's, great weather and lactic acid-free muscles for the race. You will fly through the course on the wings of unicorns (or is it only Pegasuses that fly?). Either way, I hope it's a fantastic experience and I look forward to reading your always fun and amusing summary.

Different subject: I am often unable to read or get to comments on your site. Sometimes I can reload and make the comment widget appear (like this morning), but sometimes it won't, It might be your template. Has anyone else mentioned this?

    1. Some unicorns are winged, according to my 4 year old expert.

As a matter of fact, some people have complained that they could not comment on the blog. The Petite Pacer was one of them. I am really tech ignorant so I'm not sure how to fix this problem. I will look further into it this weekend when I will be voluntarily chair/bedridden. Are you using Google Blogger?

    2. My advice - get on any flying horse you encounter.

I do use blogger and it isn't too robust. I've done customizations with JavaScript and redirect through my own domain (emergingrunner.com). I am a geek.

It appears as though you are using the Blogger "magazine" template and those dynamic views can be unstable across different browsers. When Firefox or Chrome do upgrades it can affect your template's performance. The good news is that the problem is only occasional.

I hope you are feeling strong and rested. Enjoy every minute tomorrow!

    3. Yes, I have a problem with this too. What I end up doing is clicking on her header, and opening it up in a new tab, then selecting the 'sidebar' view. I can usually comment then,.

    4. I may go to Wordpress. My sister is much more creative than I am, and she's trying to make my blog a little more 'happy'. I picked some lighter colors and she's working on it in her spare time. If I switch I'll let you know if it's easier to work in

  3. My bf loves The Stick. It doesn't really do anything for me, but I loooooove foam rolling, particularly my Rumble Roller.
